Why Am I a Musician ?

Took all of this from face book yesterday  When my childhood friend Paulette Mann asked a very good question... Please read... it's long  but it may help you understand me and others you love... Thanks!

Jay Link shared Bryan Thomas's photo.
This long quote -- attributed to David Ackert, LA Times -- has been floating around my news feed today, but I think it's interesting to note that Ackert himself confirmed that, even though he did write it, it was originally published in Backstage West fifteen years ago, not LA Times. But for those of you who haven't seen it, here ya go:

Paulette Mann Jay, share your largest magical moment doing your craft. Thanks.

Jay Link WOW Paulette, good question.. so many magical moments.. let me think abut it & when I post it I will put your name so you can see.. Thank You! xo

Jay Link Well the first magical moment was in 1976 I was 21 years old working for the old TRIAD radio in Chicago and I got to go backstage & meet Ann & Nancy Wilson of Heart for the very first time. I was able to be right off stage left & near to a very young a feisty Ann Wilson When she opened her mouth and sang those hits we all knew so well on record.. my jaw dropped and her raw power and emotion overwhelmed me..I stood there stunned and speechless with tears in my eyes.. I was moved and touched by her magic voice that evening..I had been goofing around since I was 15 with some guitar lessons and a few voice lessons, but I swear to you Paulette Mann That night I knew I wanted t be a rock musician.. So yeah I owe a LOT to Ann Wilson .. Meeting them after the show was awesome of course but it was a blur.. The way Ann Handled that crowd of 20,000 plus in the Old Chicago Amphitheater just blew me away..

Jay Link Fast forward to 2011 Our CD release party at The Whisky in Hollywood.. I was sick with 103 fever and should have been taken to the emergency room but as you know in our Biz the show much go on.. It was a Tuesday night & we had a nice crowd of 150 plus people & so many came from all over the country to see me & Death and Taxes Live.. Now I had played sick before but this was brutal I was so weak and dizzy and I just prayed to God to let me somehow finish this 45 minute set.. Thank God the band was so well rehearsed Juraj Jarosciak and David Starkey were amazing and rock solid so was drummer Izzy So I got out there and by the grace of God I made it thru the show with my voice strong and intact.. When we sang our song I Can't Save You.. Most of the crowd of friends & familiar faces were singing along with each and every word it brought tears to my eyes what a magical and emotional moment to touch people with our gifts.. I have played in front of 20,000 people before but that night was just magical to me.. I hope some who attended enjoyed it as well.. Well Paulette Mann there you go TY 4 the awesome question xxoo

Paulette Mann I enjoyed your " magical" moment memory jay! Having known you since childhood, it has not surprised me you took your passion /art craft and struggled for it. I knew you loved and became glazed over when music or lyrics or both overcame you. I remember a lot Jay. When Janis Joplin died I was at your house and you went into a deep mourning as if she was your immediate family. Some did not " get " you jay, I just want to say , I did. As we approach our 60's, keep your dreams and aspirations alive " man from U.N.C.L.E .... Love from Honey West xo

Jay Link Now I may not have the Big House Fancy Car & Large Bank Account .. I had all that & lost it about 3 times already & many frown on me "wasting My Life" away but let me tell you to stand on that stage under those lights and being one with your entire audience is almost spiritual.. I wouldn't trade my life for anything and at 58 years old I am extremely Blessed and very very fortunate to still be doing what I still love... and I will keep on doing this as long as my friends fans & loved ones want me to.. I may NEVER be a rock star & I couldn't care less.. Music is my life and my love and they are gonna have to pry that microphone outta my cold dead hands.. Love you all!

Jay Link TY Dear Paulette.. your kinds words touched my heart Love you too xxoo

I'm Doing a 7 Day Detox & Cleanse With VidaThin

Well Kids, Day One is in the books  I drank lots of water & 2  16 oz. bottles of Vida Thin  The New and amazing Detox Cleanse & Weight loss beverage..
As many of you know I have been fighting a battle with Morbid Obesity for many years now and I am so happy to have found Vida Thin. This type of regimen is drastic , yes but it is also healthy  My weight for the past few years has been hovering between 350-400 pounds and I am only 5' 9" tall.
Dangerous and very unhealthy because at 58 years old I am so sick of being so overweight.
Everyone tells you well, put the fork down and exercise..
Not easy for many of us compulsive eaters and food addicts..
When Dianna Toomey Founder of Vida Thin found me on twitter, it was a blessing.. She is a kind and wonderful lady who truly cares about people and their struggles with losing weight and eating healthy.
I know fasting is difficult for many, but if you are healthy enough to do this, you will find some amazing results.. you can lose up to 3 pounds a day on the beverage which supplies all of your dietary needs.

My main problem is I am addicted to greasy comfort foods you know, Pizza, Burgers Taco's  etc... All the crap food that is unhealthy for you.
I am using Vida Thin as a tool to get back on track to a healthy lifestyle when I can eat right, exercise and feel good about myself.
You can't imagine what a struggle and embarrassment is is for me as an entertainer to be so heavy..
My goal is getting down to 200 pounds in the next year or so...  Gonna need a lot of prayers and  love and support, but I know I can do this..
If you need help please go to
Vida Thin's Website Do yourself a favor and get healthy.

For the rest of June if you use my Code JLVT50 you will get 50% off the purchase price on web orders only.

Take Care everyone.. Wish me luck!   Jay Link

Get Out of My Head- Video- Rebuttal

Rebuttal: Well Bill Alexander the film maker and director of the video and I both knew the subject matter of the New Death and Taxes video would cause some controversy and stir up the pot a little.. well a lot actually. Yes the video is graphic, and dark and some will say hard to watch, but remember people, it is a creative endeavor. The song itself," Get Out of My Head" is a very dark song, and yes suicide is a very dark, disturbing and serious matter. The director nor I condone violence, murder or suicide in any way, shape or form, but if this video is disturbing to you, you still have to admit that violence and suicide are a part of our daily lives. If for one moment this video makes you think of a family member or loved one or a dear friend who may be dealing with dark painful issues , maybe, you might find the strength and courage to step in and intervene somehow.
How many times after a loved one commits suicide do we hear, I wish I could have done something, or I wish I could have spoken to him or her before this tragedy happened.

Again, you can take this video movie at face value or you can delve in a deep as you want to go.
Whatever your opinions on this video, and we respect everyone's opinion, but we all must respect the basic rights of the creator of this piece some due respect.

Yes, this video will shock and disturb and even sicken some people because it is graphic.
We always try to use a disclaimer when presenting this video to our audience.

In the future Mr.Alexander will be doing more videos , some will be more comical, other more bizarre and bordering on the absurd, but as a film maker, he should be allowed creative freedom and license.

If you would like a look at the controversial video from Bill Alexander Here is the link:

First Video- Get Out of My Head

Hey Guys & Gals, here it is, the first Video from our New CD "Inevitable"
Check it out here: Death and Taxes - Get Out of My Head http://t.co/CU9TmCZ via @youtube By Sick N Twisted Pictures~ Bill F Alexander

Bill Alexander, Filmmaker, Producer, Musician, Recording Engineer, Dad, Husband & one of my very best friends, is basically a nice sweet guy, well, until you view one of his Dark, Macabre films of the horror genre type, then all hell breaks loose, Buckets of blood, mayhem, murder, and unspeakable acts, and that's just while the title credits are rolling :)

Bill is the genius behind Alex Entertainment and Sick N Twisted Pictures. I have know Bill for at least 8 years and he is a workaholic and is the nicest guy in the world. He would give you the shirt off his back... but you have to give him the skin off yours. Bill loves this genre and really loves to create this type of video and film for pure entertainment and escapism. Yes, he runs into some controversy now and then, but if bloody, gory, funny, campy horror flicks isn't your cup of tea, by all means, do not watch his films & videos.

Bill will soon be releasing more video shorts and his full length feature gore fest " 50 Ways To Kill Your Lover", which I had the opportunity to work with this great director on his newest film.
Now folks, that is a whole nother blog hahah Please check out the new video & watch for the movie coming soon.

Please subscribe to Bill's You Tube Channel so you get notification of any new releases.
