Took
all of this from face book yesterday When my childhood friend
Paulette Mann asked a very good question... Please read... it's long
but it may help you understand me and others you love...
Thanks!
Jay Link shared Bryan Thomas's photo.
This long quote -- attributed to David Ackert, LA Times -- has been
floating around my news feed today, but I think it's interesting to
note that Ackert himself confirmed that, even though he did write it,
it was originally published in Backstage West fifteen years ago, not
LA Times. But for those of you who haven't seen it, here ya go:
Paulette
Mann Jay,
share your largest magical moment doing your craft. Thanks.
Jay
Link WOW
Paulette, good question.. so many magical moments.. let me think
abut it & when I post it I will put your name so you can see..
Thank You! xo
Jay
Link Well
the first magical moment was in 1976 I was 21 years old working for
the old TRIAD radio in Chicago and I got to go backstage & meet
Ann & Nancy Wilson of Heart for the very first time. I was able
to be right off stage left & near to a very young a feisty Ann
Wilson When she opened her mouth and sang those hits we all knew so
well on record.. my jaw dropped and her raw power and emotion
overwhelmed me..I stood there stunned and speechless with tears in
my eyes.. I was moved and touched by her magic voice that evening..I
had been goofing around since I was 15 with some guitar lessons and
a few voice lessons, but I swear to you Paulette
Mann That
night I knew I wanted t be a rock musician.. So yeah I owe a LOT to
Ann Wilson .. Meeting them after the show was awesome of course but
it was a blur.. The way Ann Handled that crowd of 20,000 plus in the
Old Chicago Amphitheater just blew me away..

forward to 2011 Our CD release party at The Whisky in Hollywood.. I
was sick with 103 fever and should have been taken to the emergency
room but as you know in our Biz the show much go on.. It was a
Tuesday night & we had a nice crowd of 150 plus people & so
many came from all over the country to see me & Death and Taxes
Live.. Now I had played sick before but this was brutal I was so
weak and dizzy and I just prayed to God to let me somehow finish
this 45 minute set.. Thank God the band was so well rehearsed Juraj
Jarosciak and David
Starkey were
amazing and rock solid so was drummer Izzy So I got out there and by
the grace of God I made it thru the show with my voice strong and
intact.. When we sang our song I Can't Save You.. Most of the crowd
of friends & familiar faces were singing along with each and
every word it brought tears to my eyes what a magical and emotional
moment to touch people with our gifts.. I have played in front of
20,000 people before but that night was just magical to me.. I hope
some who attended enjoyed it as well.. Well Paulette
Mann there
you go TY 4 the awesome question xxoo
Paulette
Mann I
enjoyed your " magical" moment memory jay! Having known
you since childhood, it has not surprised me you took your passion
/art craft and struggled for it. I knew you loved and became glazed
over when music or lyrics or both overcame you. I remember a lot
Jay. When Janis Joplin died I was at your house and you went into a
deep mourning as if she was your immediate family. Some did not "
get " you jay, I just want to say , I did. As we approach our
60's, keep your dreams and aspirations alive " man from
U.N.C.L.E .... Love from Honey West xo

I may not have the Big House Fancy Car & Large Bank Account .. I
had all that & lost it about 3 times already & many frown on
me "wasting My Life" away but let me tell you to stand on
that stage under those lights and being one with your entire
audience is almost spiritual.. I wouldn't trade my life for anything
and at 58 years old I am extremely Blessed and very very fortunate
to still be doing what I still love... and I will keep on doing this
as long as my friends fans & loved ones want me to.. I may NEVER
be a rock star & I couldn't care less.. Music is my life and my
love and they are gonna have to pry that microphone outta my cold
dead hands.. Love you all!
Jay Link TY Dear Paulette.. your kinds words touched my heart Love you too xxoo
